Ring around the Rosies,
Pockets full of Posies,
Ashes, ashes we all fall down.
Black death, that is what my DSalmost2 is gleefully singing about. Giggling as they re-enact people falling over dead. it all looks and sounds so innocent, but I can only imagine the horror of so many people dying all at once, from an unknown disease.
Why are so many children's songs and rhymes morbid, or about old political issues? We teach them the cute, but leave out what they are ACTUALLY talking about it isn't until years later they discover just what their favorite songs and dances are re-enacting.
